Once an area where early settlers panned for gold, this three-mile stretch overlooking the Feather River is now popular with walkers, joggers, and bicyclers. It's a serene spot for a picnic, and a chance to commune with Mother Nature.

During Autumn, you can even view one of Mother Nature's life cycles, as the salmon swim upriver to spawn. Climb a Rock with a View.

Bald Rock

Hwy. 162 North to Berry Creek, right on Bald Rock Rd.
Pavement ends, go 2.2 miles on gravel rd, turn left into parking area.

It's only a quarter mile hike from the parking area to Bald Rock, and the spectacular view of the Sacramento Valley and coastal mountain ranges make it a hike worth taking.

There are many unique formations atop Bald Rock as well as grinding holes worn in the rock by former Native American residents who ground acorns there. The Maidu have a legend of a monster called Uino who protects the middle fork of the Feather River from his dwelling atop Bald Rock.
