The Oroville Police Department has a compliment of 24 sworn officers, 10 non-sworn employees, Senior Volunteers, and a Reserve Officer unit. The jurisdiction encompasses 13 square miles with 71 miles of City maintained roadway. The population within the City limits is 12,656; however, as the County Seat, our sphere of influence has a population of 55,000. Approximately 250,000 people per year travel through the City to reach the 167 mile shoreline of Lake Oroville.

The Department's functional structure is divided into two (2) divisions Operations and Technical Services. The Operations Division's major responsibilities consist of patrol and field services; investigative services; property and evidence control; canine units; motorcycle patrol; narcotics task force; SWAT team; Reserve Officer program; made the neighborhood based police service areas.

The major responsibility of the Technical Services Division consist of Records and Public Information; Communication/Dispatch center; management of the automated systems; the enhanced 9-1-1 system; and special research projects.
